FOSTER A CAREGIVER-INCLUSIVE CULTURE

Supporting employees who have adult caregiving responsibilities drives organizational performance.

Whether you have a long-term effort to support caregivers or are just starting to think about it, we have resources you can use.

Why Care About Caregivers

One of every five employees in America is currently balancing work with caregiving for an adult family member, and nearly every employee will do so at some point in their career. These working family caregivers span all job titles, ages, and demographics. Employers who work to create caregiver inclusive workplaces are better able to recruit and hire diverse talent, increase retention, and manage their workforce towards better productivity and financial performance.

How to Care for Caregivers

The share of employees who have adult caregiving responsibilities is growing quickly as our population ages and life expectancy lengthens. Fortunately, employers have an opportunity to proactively address this issue in ways that benefit both their employees and their organizations. The AARP resources on this site can help you find practical tools and guidance to support your employees through three key action areas: 1) caregiver inclusive policies, 2) recruiting and hiring practices, and 3) workforce management practices.
